Abstract

The brief's key findings are: (1) Despite Social Security's online tools, many retiring workers still contact an agency representative for help. (2) Both online and in-person applicants report high satisfaction with the process of claiming benefits. (3) Interestingly, lower satisfaction often stems from those who would prefer to use online tools, but ultimately do not. (4) This result suggests that continued improvement in, and promotion of, online services could further boost overall satisfaction.
