Abstract

The brief's key findings are: (1) The National Retirement Risk Index captures the share of working-age households that could fall short in retirement. (2) Recent upgrades to the Index allow for more accurate measurement and analysis. (3) The retooled Index confirms earlier findings: half of households will not be able to maintain their standard of living when they retire.
